Teen Girls Often Sexual Targets Online

Published lördag 12 juni 2010 kl 10.48

Nearly one out of three 15 year old girls in Sweden has been the target of unwelcome sexual contacts on the Internet. Among boys the figure is around 6 percent.

The newspaper “Svenska Dagbladet” reports on a survey by the Swedish Crime Prevention Council, based on responses from nearly 7000 ninth grade students.

The study also reveals that girls who are the victims of bullying run an even greater risk of online sexual attentions. This, the experts say, is because girls who are bullied are more likely to chat online with strangers.
