Anti-Piracy Force Sailors Have TB
Eight of the Swedish Navy personnel who served last year with the EU anti-pirate force off Somalia have tested positive for tuberculosis. The Swedish military now wants to test all the sailors and soldiers who have served in the Gulf of Aden.
Around 100 of the entire 150 member anti-pirate force were tested at a reunion at the end of March. Now the military wants to test the other 50 members of the force, which served off the Somali coast between May 15 and September 15 last year. Testing will also be offered to those who are currently serving in the anti-pirate force.
Seven of the eight who tested positive showed no signs of active TB. In the eighth case the complete test results have not come back.
