Vitamins May Aid Women's Heart Health

Published lördag 2 oktober 2010 kl 11.11

New Swedish research indicates that taking multivitamins may help women without cardiovascular disease to ward off a heart attack.

But the study Dr. Susanne Rautiainen and colleagues at Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute also found that vitamin pills seem to have less of an effect in women with heart disease.

Rautiainen tells Reuters Health that the results don’t settle the question of whether it’s actually the vitamin pills that are protective. Those who take vitamins, she says, are more physically active and have a healthier diet.

Their work was published by the American Journal for Clinical Nutrition.
