Swedish Radio and SR International

Swedish Radio is a non-commercial and politically independent public service broadcaster, charged with producing quality programs that appeal to all listeners, regardless of age, gender, or cultural or ethnic background. SR International is Swedish Radio’s international and multi-cultural channel, with the task of providing information about Sweden.

SR International is on the air and online in 8 different languages.

The programs in English, Arabic, Kurdish, Persian, and Somali are broadcast over the P2 network through-out Sweden as well as to the Stockholm region on 89.6 MHz FM. These programs are primarily aimed at people newly arrived in Sweden, and shall help them follow the news here and orient themselves into Swedish society.

The broadcasts in the minority language Romany, which are also broadcast over P2 to all of Sweden and on 89.6 FM to Stockholm, support the culture and language of the Roma in Sweden.

All of these services also post news online, the English online news is updated seven days a week.

For interested listeners abroad, SR International posts news online, as well as podcasts in English, German, and Russian. SR International’s English programs as well as a wide spectrum of programs from all of Swedish Radio are also broadcast via satellite.
