Prison for setting self on fire

The Swedish migration board decides whether people can stay in Sweden

A man was refused permission to stay in Sweden as a refugee. He took out petrol and set fire to himself in the Migration Board's office.

Now an appeal court ha sentenced him to a year's prison, for arson.

The 29-year old man had previously been acquitted by the local court in Växjö, but the appeal court decided that his attempted self-immolation, which started a violent blaze, met the criteria for arson.

The man was burnt badly and has already spent a year in the hospital, writes local paper Smålandsposten.
