Armed robbery at giant Ikea store

The robbers used explosives to force their way in

On tuesday night thieves used explosives to break in to the biggest Ikea in the world, south of Stockholm.

So far police have no suspects, but are hoping that security camera footage will give them a lead.

Just after eight pm the armed robbers blew their way in to a vault where security guards were handling the giant store's cash takings.

Two guards were injured. Anders Poltén at Södertörn police says to news agency TT that the guards are, physically, all right, but that they are suffering mentally.

Ikea have not commented on how much money was taken. The head of security at G4S, Johan Petersson, says to TT that it could be a couple of million kronor - not such a big sum in the world of cash transporting.
