Minister: Anti-piracy law needs changes
The international law against filesharing law, Acta, requires the Swedish law against piracy to be rewritten, according to Minister of Justice Beatrice Ask. It should be easier for prosecutors to charge people for counterfeiting.
Since the European Union and the US together with many other countries started negotiations on an international law against online piracy and counterfeiting the Swedish government has said there is no need to change the law here, newspaper Svenska Dagbladet reports.
But now that the Acta-agreement is almost finished Ask says it is clear that the Swedish law also needs to be changed. The main difference will be that prosecutors would be able to prosecute someone without needing an official complaint.
