Of the 290 Vietnamese berry pickers working in Sweden over the summer, only 126 have gone home, according to Swedish Radio News. The rest of the seasonal workers are still in Europe, trying to earn the money they were supposed to have made during the summer.

Many are heavily in debt after borrowing the money to make the trip to Sweden, and being forced to pay a deposit to the employment agency that gave them the jobs.

The workers were expected to pick unrealistically high numbers of berries to earn their wages, and many went on strike and even imprisoned their employers when they discovered they had been tricked.
