Nordic Battle Group comes under scrutiny
The Nordic Battle Group has been criticized for serious problems with how it was structured. This critique comes from a new report by the Swedish State Audit Institution.
News agency TT reports that the battle group, which Sweden put together and led in 2008 as part of a European Union crisis-response force, did not follow the conditions of the government's bill that outlined the creation of the group in 2004.
The group had double as many soldiers as it was supposed to and cost several times more than what parliament had been informed about.
The government has been criticized for coming back to the parliament with these details too late.
