The Swedish authorities released a Russian researcher from custody Friday.

The researcher had been suspected for spying at Uppsala University’s agricultural genetic laboratory and was arrested in February of this year.

The Chief Prosecutor decided to drop the case for lack of evidence. The Russian news agency Interfax reports that the Russian government welcomes the release and regrets that their citizen was kept in custody for so long.
