Swedish Government Ministers Shares to be Published

Published fredag 27 oktober 2006 kl 14.22

The new center-right Swedish coalition government has announced that it will publish a list of the stocks and shares owned by the new ministers.

This comes after a sharp public debate over shares and options in state and private Russian energy companies owned by the new Swedish foreign minister, former prime minister and former head of the center right moderate party, Carl Bildt.

Critics claimed that Bildt could have been caught in a conflict of interest between Stockholm and Moscow – especially since Russia is discussing building a gas line through Sweden to Germany.

Bildt has now announced that he has sold the shares and will get rid of the options as soon as possible.
