TeliaSonera Report Exceeds Expectations
The Swedish-Finnish telecoms operator TeliaSonera posted strong than expected third quarter earnings Tuesday.
The largest telephone services provider in the Nordic region reported a net profit of 790 million dollars, up 32 percent from the same period last year.
The improvement was attributed to mobile telephony and high speed Internet services, along with revenue from the sale of an operation in Uganda. While there was mobile telephone growth in Central Asia, Norway, Denmark, and the Baltic republics, sales declined in Sweden by 3 percent due to falling prices.
TeliaSonera has it expects sales to continue to grow this year, and predicted rising volumes in mobile and Internet communications.
