Bildt: Abandon Wartime Rhetoric

Published onsdag 15 november 2006 kl 11.41
Carl Bildt (L) and his Bosnian counterpart Mladen Ivanic

In Sarajevo, visiting Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has said Bosnia  should focus on its struggling economy and the long path towards European Union membership.

Bildt was the international community’s first peace envoy to Bosnia after the  war in the 1990’s, and he co-chaired the Dayton peace talks.

On his first visit to the Balkans after taking over as Sweden’s foreign minister, Bildt said Bosnia should abandon its wartime rhetoric and speed up reforms that will take it closer to Europe.
