Sweden is the most democratic country in the world, according to the Economist magazine which carried out a survey of 167 countries.

Sweden is called a ”near perfect democracy, coming top, followed by Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark.

60 indicators were used, graded 1 to 10, ranging from such areas as electoral process, functioning government, political participation, political culture and civil liberties.

Britain and the United States had relatively modest scores. North Korea was judged the least democratic country in the world.
