Swedish Industry Hopes for More Atomic Power

Published fredag 24 november 2006 kl 15.03

Reports from industry say investors are counting on this country bulding 2 more atomic energy plants in the future – and are ready to pump in 10 or more billion U.S. dollars for the projects.

Sweden has now 10 reactors on line --after closing down 2 controversial reactors right across the water from the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

A nation referendum in Sweden called for the phasing out of atomic power, but some critics insist that this Nordic nation should keep the reactors now on line and even expand the program – to counter rising electricity prices here.

The new Swedish government is divided on the issue.
