A convict imprisoned for a triple killing in Sweden has escaped from his prison in Finland.

Juha Valjakkala was serving a life sentence for killing all the members of a family in northern Sweden in 1988. He’s been allowed to serve the sentence in his native Finland.

Now the Finnish police say he escaped from a work colony Monday night. An all points bulletin for his apprehension has also been issued in Sweden.

Last month there was widespread concern here in Sweden when a parole board approved his application for a pardon. At the time Swedish Justice Minister Beatrice Ask objected, pointing out that Valjakkala had escaped from prison several times since he was transferred to Finland.
