Götheborg Reaches Hong Kong
A replica of an 18th century Swedish frigate berthed at Hong Kong Wednesday, before embarking on its return voyage back to this country.
The Götheborg is modelled after a merchant ship that sank in 1745 when it entered its home port of Gothenburg, loaded with goods from Asia. The replica ship left Sweden in October last year, and its 70,000 kilometer journey took it to Spain, Brazil, South Africa and Australia before it reached China.
After a week in Hong Kong the Götheborg will sail on to Singapore and India, and is scheduled to arrive back in Sweden in June.
