Prisoners Treated for ADHD

Published onsdag 6 december 2006 kl 11.34

Swedish Radio News reports that prison inmates here are to receive treatment for ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

The Swedish prison authorities estimate that around one quarter of convicts here suffer from the disorder, a condition that makes it hard to concentrate or control behavior, and often leads to aggressiveness and difficulties in social relationships.

Following a two year pilot program, county health authorities are now working with prisons to treat inmates with ADHD.
