Anti-Immigrant Feelings Increase
A new study from Uppsala University indicates that most Swedes are positive about ethnic diversity. But it also shows that the number of those with extremist anti-immigrant opinions has doubled in the past year.
“Dagens Nyheter” reports that while 84 percent of Swedes are positive or very positive about diversity, the annual survey from the university indicates that the number of those with extremely negative attitudes has risen from 3 to 6 percent since last year.
One of the researchers behind the study says there’s a correlation between what they found and the success of the anti-immigrant Sweden Democrat party in September’s elections.
