Bildt Wants to Bolster EU Foreign Policy
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt says his main task is to help bolster European Union foreign policy as the EU grapples with a growing list of global problems.
In an interview with the Reuters news agency, Bildt says the union’s biggest challenges lie in the entire area between Kabul and Khartoum. He expressed cautious hope that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abba’s plans for early election can ease the increasingly volatile situation in the region.
The former Balkan envoy and Swedish prime minister says issues such as security, poverty, and climate change require EU strength in the global arena.
