Iranian Immigrants "Swedes of the Year"

Published fredag 22 december 2006 kl 13.48

An immigrant couple from Iran have been named ”Swedes of the Year” by a Swedish magazine for courageously standing up to black-mailing criminal gangs.

After first paying protection money to a notorius Swedish motorcycle gang for their west-coast, Gothenberg restaurant, the couple decided to report the case to the police and got 7 of the criminals sent to jail.

But continued threats of violence and even the fire bombing of the couples’ car scared customers away and forced the restaruant to close down. Swedish police praised the couples’ willingness to face the criminals, but advised them to change their names and move away – or even leave the country – but they refused.
