Many New Laws for 2007

A series of new laws and ordinance went into effect on the first of the year - many having to do with money.

Taxes are being raised on tobacco, electricity and fuel. Meanwhile taxes on income, real estate and ski lifts are being lowered.

One of the major changes in Sweden will be a reduction in sickness and unemployment benefits.

In a controversial move the center-right government have raised fees for benefits, while also reducing pay out of those benefits.

Another of the major changes is that union fees will no longer be tax deductible.

All in all, its planned that some 60 laws and 92 ordnance will go into effect throughout 2007.
