Giant Viking Museum in Stockholm?

Published onsdag 3 januari 2007 kl 14.10

The non-government organization, the Stockholm Viking Center has come out with yet another plan for a giant Viking museum and archeological research center for the Swedish capital.

This would be the biggest of its kind in the Nordic region – with recommendations that it be placed on a downtown city island – close to the water so loved by those boat-rowing and sailing vikings.

A number of earlier projects have been suggested – taking some of the viking finds now spread out over other museums and in other Swedish cities – but have never gotten far off the architecht’s desk.

The center argues that both Swedish and foreign tourists are greatly disappointed when told that there is no one place to meet the vikings.
