Poor snow shouldn’t affect top ski event

Published torsdag 11 januari 2007 kl 13.28

Organisers of next month’s Alpine skiing world championships in Sweden say they are hopeful poor snow conditions which have wrought havoc with the world cup season will not affect their event in Åre.

Training sessions in Switzerland and races in France have been called off this week, and there were fears the unusually warm weather would cause problems here too.

But with snow predicted for much of Sweden this week, officials in Åre say things are looking up and they are confident they will pass snow control inspections next week.
