After a relatively warm beginning to the year, winter arrived in full force here during the weekend, with snow around the country.

Slippery roads caused two accidents involving busses in the south, but no serious injuries have been reported. There were a number of minor traffic accidents, some 40 in the Stockholm area alone. More than 33,000 households were without electricity Sunday morning.

Temperatures remain below freezing in all but the southern coast. It’s cold but sunny in many areas, with some scattered snow in the south and on the Baltic island of Gotland.

The temperature at 11:00 AM here in Stockholm was minus 5 degrees Celsius.

The sun rose here in Stockholm at 8:22 AM, with sunset at 3:40 PM.
