Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt is heading Sweden’s delegation at the international conference on aid to Lebanon in Paris today. France is organising the conference in cooperation with the government of Lebanon.

The objective of the Paris conference is to strengthen the international community’s commitment to supporting economic reforms and the long-term reconstruction of Lebanon.

In Paris, Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt will announce further Swedish support for Lebanon.

According to Bildt, ”Sweden’s contribution will demonstrate its continued commitment to Lebanon’s recovery following last summer’s devastating war.

The Foreign Minister added that ”it will be an opportunity for the rest of the world to express its support for the entire population of Lebanon. This is an important signal in the current tense situation.”
