Eritrea’s visiting Minister of Information was met by a demonstration when he took part in a meeting in Stockholm Sunday.

After it became known that Information Minister Ali Abdu would be taking part in a meeting with Eritreans at a Stockholm high school, around 50 members of an Eritrean opposition group demonstrated outside. They were calling for the release from prison of the Swedish-Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak.

After the meeting the Eritrean minister avoided journalists who wanted to ask questions about the fate of the imprisoned Swedish citizen.

On Saturday several hundred people took part in a demonstration in Stockholm against Ethiopia’s involvement in Somalia. They called on the Swedish government to do more to help Swedish-Somalis who have been taken prisoner in Kenya and southern Somalia in connection with the fighting there.
