Older women have much slimmer chance of conceiving through IVF

Published måndag 12 februari 2007 kl 11.14

Age has much more of an impact on the success rate than previously thought, according to a new Swedish study.

Research at an IVF clinic in the southern city of Malmö has shown under 35’s have around a 72 per cent chance of success after up to three attempts, but women over 35 have only a 41 per cent chance.

Almost 4 hundred women took part in the study and staff at the clinic say the difference was a lot greater than they had believed.
