Police to Police Nightclub Bouncers?

Published måndag 14 maj 2007 kl 12.44
A job for the police?

Stockholm’s County Administrative Board has called for a shake-up of rules governing security at the city’s clubs and bars, proposing that police should be given responsibility for placing bouncers.

The board believes that such a move would help combat the increasing level of violence in Stockholm nightlife.

The proposal has been put forward by a working group made up of trade union representatives, police and security guards.

According to the police, there are a number of cases in which criminal organisations have taken control of entrance fees and cloakrooms.

”We have completely lost control of pubs and bouncers,” a police spokesman told the daily ”Svenska Dagbladet”.
