Iraqi Deportation Violates UN Guidelines

Published fredag 18 maj 2007 kl 12.50

The Swedish police have deported an Iraqi man to Baghdad, despite Sweden’s policy against forcing people back to the country’s unstable southern and central areas.

The deportation is in direct conflict with United Nation refugee guidelines and has come under heavy criticism from the Swedish chapter of Amnesty.

The newspaper ”Dagens Nyheter”reports on a volley between the police and The Swedish Migration Board on who is responsible for returning the man to Baghdad instead of his home in northern Iraq.
