Japanese Imperial Visit to Uppsala
Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko’s visit to Sweden reaches its climax on Wednesday with a series of events in Uppsala marking the 300th anniversary of Swedish botanist Carl Linné.
The imperial couple, accompanied by the Swedish king and queen, attended a memorial ceremony on Wednesday morning in Uppsala Cathedral, where Linné is burried.
After the emperor and empress attend a concert and meet Japanese and Swedish students and researchers, they are due to attend a banquet at Uppsala Castle.
The imperial couple leave Sweden on Thursday for the three Baltic states, before heading to Britain.
