Twice as Many Asylum-Seekers in 2007
According to new data from Sweden’s Migration Board, the number of asylum seekers coming to Sweden is continuing to rise.
More than 17,600 arrived in the first six months of the year, twice as many as in the same period last year.
The largest single group are from Iraq, numbering some nine thousand three hundred people, and in excess of the total for the whole of last year. The board also says that the number of Somalis coming to Sweden has jumped markedly in the last six months.
