Tall Ships in Stockholm

Published fredag 27 juli 2007 kl 11.36

The Tall Ships Races have come to Stockholm, with more than 100 ships competing in the long-distance race spanning some four Baltic cities.

Now in its 51st year, the event brings together some of the biggest sailing ships in the world, with at least half of each vessel’s crew aged between 15 and 25. More than 3000 crew members are participating.

The ships set sail from Århus in Denmark on July 9th, and headed for Kotka in Finland. They arrived Friday in Stockholm, where they’ll stay for four nights before setting off on the final leg of the journey, to Szczecin in Poland.

Stockholm is hosting a festival to mark the ships’ arrival, with live music and a parade across the city.
