The only women’s tennis championship in the Nordic region has started in Stockholm.

The Nordic Light Open runs until August, 5th, with more than  30 participants from across the world playing at Stockholm’s Olympic stadium. They’re all competing for prize money of some 140,000 US dollars.

It’s the fourth year running that Stockholm has hosted the tournament, but only 3 Swedes are taking part - and two of them have already been knocked out.

The favorite is Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues.

In soccer, ”Aftonbladet” reports that Swedish star Kim Källström is set to join Spanish giants Valencia, in a deal worth some 18 million US dollars.

Källström, who represented Sweden at the World Cup in Germany last year, currently plays for French champions Lyon. The two clubs are believed to be finalising the details of the transfer.
