Tributes are being paid across the globe for Ingmar Bergman. The Swedish film director died yesterday at the age of 89.

Later in the program we visit the Radio Sweden vault for one of our classic series. Today, part one of ”Sven Hedin,” the last of the great explorers.

Tributes are being paid across the globe for Ingmar Bergman, the Swedish film director who died yesterday at the age of 89. Bergman, who was nominated for nine Academy Awards, was admired by film-makers and cinema-goers far beyond Sweden. George Wood has more:

The 51st Tall Ships Races came to Stockholm this past week, bringing people from all over the world together for a month-long race across four ports in the Baltic Sea. Eddie de Oliveira went quayside to meet the organisers and participants of the world’s biggest annual event for large ships:
