Some Bridges Similar to Minneapolis

The newspaper ”Svenska Dagbladet” reports that there are several bridges in Sweden that are similar in construction to the bridge that collapsed in the American city of Minneapolis.

Kurt Plamqvist, an engineer with the authority responsible for rail traffic in this country told the newspaper that the bridges in question are mostly older railway bridges in northern and eastern parts of the country.

”Svenska Dagbladet” also reports that although Swedish bridges are well regarded internationally, every year several are closed because of safety issues.

Some 30 people are believed to have died in the tragedy in Minneapolis, and authorities fear it could take days to recover all the bodies.
