Anniversary Meeting for Young Socialists
The youth wing of the Swedish Social Democratic party, the SSU, begins its annual congress Monday, in the central Swedish town of Örebro.
The youth organization has been criticized recently following after accusations it received improper subsidies after submitting faked membership numbers.
The organization will also be voting in a new president, as the former leader Anna Sjödin stepped down from her post late last year, after being refused permission to appeal against her conviction for assaulting a bouncer during a drunken brawl.
Despite the scandals, the SSU says it is looking forward to a week of ”politics and debate”. The organization is also celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
