Published onsdag 15 augusti 2007 kl 12.42

More people have died on the Swedish roads in July this year compared to last year, according to the the National Road Administration.

Last month 55 people died in traffic accidents, compared to 50 traffic-related deaths in July 2006.

More than half of the victims were pedestrians, cyclists and moped and motorcycle drivers. During the first seven months of this year 266 were killed, 20 more than last year.

The administration also says that the majority of accidents occurred on roads where the speed limit was 50 kilometers per hour.
