Published måndag 17 september 2007 kl 16.51
Wreckage of the MD-82 at Phuket

One Swedish woman was among the 89 passengers and crew who died in a plane crash on the southern Thai island of Phuket at the weekend.

The Swedish Consulate in Phuket confirmed for Swedish news agency TT the victim was a young female, rather than male, as initial reports suggested.

Swedish authorities say a second Swede is reported as missing after the crash – there was no further information on this person at 1800 local Swedish time.

Two further Swedes travelling on the MD-82 aircraft, operated by budget Thai carrier One-Two-Go Airlines, sustained minor injuries.
