New Views of Stockholm

Published torsdag 20 september 2007 kl 12.58

Stockholm’s iconic Globe Arena, a vast events venue in the south of the capital, bearing more than a passing resemblance to something between a golf ball and a nuclear power station, could soon have visitors on its outisde rather than inside.

Under plans billed ”Globen Skyviews”, the arena’s owners hope to construct two glass elevators on rails to take tourists to the roof of the building, 130 meters above sea level, affording what are promised to be stunning views of Stockholm.

The owners have applied for planning permission for the 6 million dollar project, and hope the attraction will be in place for Globen’s 20th anniversary in 2009.
