Stockholm Criminology Prize to US, UK

Published torsdag 20 september 2007 kl 13.01

The Stockholm Prize in Criminology has been awarded to Professor David Olds of the University of Colorado in the United States, and Professor Jonathan Shepherd of Britain’s Cardiff University for their field experiments in policies for crime and injury prevention.

Professor Shepherd was praised for his work comparing how different types of glasses shatter in different ways, encouraging pubs to introduce glasses that cause fewer injuries.

Professor Olds has been honored for his work on methods to prevent child abuse.

Established in 2005, the Stockholm Prize in Criminology is financed by foundations in the United States, Sweden and Japan.
