Good Experiences in Immigrant Contacts
Half of all Swedes think that headscarves should be banned in workplaces and schools.
That’s according to a new poll carried out on behalf of one of Sweden’s leading universities. It’s the third year in a row that Uppsala University has held the opinion poll to look at Swedes’ attitudes to immigrants and their families.
One third of Swedes claim that ”many foreigners only come to Sweden to abuse our benefits system”, but on the other hand 80 percent say they have had good experiences in their contacts with people with non-Swedish backgrounds.
Five percent of those questioned had what the pollsters called extremely negative opinions about immigrants.
