The independent pay-board that is in charge of ministerial salaries is to look into the accounts of former Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson.

This after reports that the former Social Democrat leader has been claiming the full amount of financial benefits paid to ex ministers – despite his high income as a private consultant.

Persson says his company’s income doesn’t count as a personal salary.

But the head of the pay board says they will now take a closer look at the case. All the ex-ministers from the last government got a year’s salary following the election.
