More Criticism of Swedish Mental Health Care

Published tisdag 2 oktober 2007 kl 14.41

More savage criticism has come over the lack of proper care for patients in the Swedish mental hospital system.

A new report claims that the personnel are at times excesively passive and don’t take responsiblity for troubled patients.

The new violation of patients safety and rights includes a case where an eldery patient was left in the waiting room so long that he went home and killed himself and his wife.

Another concerns with a woman patient was left dead in her bed for hours – althhough she was supposed to be under constant surviellance.

Another concerns an orderly stabbed to death by a patient returning to the hospital after permission, and another the murder of an 8-year-old boy by an ex-patient right after his release.
