Swedish Immigration Process Improved

Published måndag 8 oktober 2007 kl 10.45

Swedish migration authorities ay they have now smoothed out new procedures and are now more quickly handling applications for asylum and residence permits.

Ealier criticism has blasted the system for being too slow and too insensitive.

The authorities also report a large increase in applications from family members – wanting to join those already living here – totalling 22,000 so far this year.

Many are asking to join relatives who have fled from the violence and warfare in Iraq.
