Manifestation Against Street Violence

Published fredag 12 oktober 2007 kl 11.02

The shout: ”Protect us from Street Violence!” could be heard in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg and Eskilstuna Friday as thousands rallied at organized manifestations against violence.

The death of a 16-year-old boy last weekend at the hands of his peers on the affluent island of Kungsholmen here in the capital, has brought teenage and gang violence to the forefront.

After threats, the family of one of the suspects has now gone into hiding.

A relatively safe and quiet capital city, the death and subsequent arrests here in Stockholm, have sparked massive media coverage with focus now turning to crime prevention.
