Nobel Peace Prize
The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and former US Vice President, Al Gore.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee honoured them out of a possible 181 candidates, for raising awareness of the risks of climate change.
News Agency Reuters said Gore was deeply honoured to win and would donate his share of the prize money to the Alliance for Climate Protection. The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s chairman, Rajendra Pachauri was equally overwhelmed saying he was, ”stunned.”
