Sweden To Attend EU-Africa Summit, Even If Mugabe Comes Too
Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt says he will attend an EU-African summit in December even if the controversial Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe also attends.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said he will boycott the meeting if Mugabe also attends, but Sweden’s Reinfeldt says the summit is much too important to let just one man ruin it.
Sweden’s Foreign Minister Carl Bildt adds that Mugabe really shouldn’t come, saying that he should use his time instead to sort out his country by introducing economic and democratic reforms. And above all to stop the humanitarian catastrophe that can be seen taking place there.
