Water Squirting Reporter Fined

Published fredag 9 november 2007 kl 10.05
PM Fredrik Reinfeldt

A fake microphone squirting water in the PM’s face is no joke.

That was Friday’s verdict as a reporter for production company Strix was fined by Stockholm’s city court for molestation. The court ruled that the reporter should have understood that there was a risk that the joke could have been misinterpreted, bearing in mind Sweden’s two high profile political murders in the past.

The water attack happened in front of a Stockholm cinema earlier this year, when a reporter stuck the fake microphone in the Prime Minister’s face. The reporter was working for a programme based on ”Balls of Steel,” a programme made by Britain’s Channel 4, which carried out a similar stunt on Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

Like Cruise, Reinfeldt was not amused.

The woman’s lawyer says they will be filing an appeal.
