Immigration to Sweden Remains High

Published tisdag 13 november 2007 kl 11.16

Immigration to Sweden remains high. As the latest figures from Statistics Sweden show, a total of 74,000 people have immigrated to Sweden since the beginning of the year; pushing this country’s population up to 9.17 million.

The largest group coming to Sweden is Iraqi citizens, followed by immigrants from EU-member states.

Emigration from Sweden is rising as well. 34,000 Swedes have left their home country so far this year with the vast majority of them moving to another Nordic state or an English speaking country.
